Dermal fillers recap

As a reminder, facial fillers are gel solutions made of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine and are meant to volumize the face by filling in hollow spaces and smoothing wrinkles.

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your body, while lidocaine is a substance that helps reduce pain and swelling. Results are immediate and can last anywhere between 6-12 months.

There are two different methods for injecting fillers: the needle and the cannula. Our providers are highly-trained in both methods and can help you decide which one is right for you. Learn more about the cannula technique in this video from our RN, Kelli!

Dermal fillers can:

  • Smooth mild-to-moderate facial lines
  • Plump up lips
  • Volumize and contour cheeks by lifting sagging skin
  • Improve chin and jawline structure
  • Rejuvenate hands by correcting lost volume
  • Correct under-eye bags by restoring volume

Now for the fun part!

The 9 different types of dermal fillers we offer and what each of them do:

1. Juvéderm Voluma XC

Voluma is FDA-approved for the cheekbones. It enhances fullness and the appearance of your cheeks and chin. Voluma reaches deep beneath the surface of the skin to lift soft tissue and contour the face for up to 24 months.

2. Juvéderm Vollure

Juvédem Vollure is FDA-approved for moderate facial wrinkles and folds. It softens moderate to severe nasolabial folds, also known as parentheses lines (lines extending from both sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth). Vollure can last for up to 18 months.

3. Restylane (Classic)

Restylane Classic can be used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds by adding volume and fullness. It can also enhance your lips.

Restylane products may last anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on the formula and area placed. Our providers will be able to tell you where you fall on that spectrum.

4. Restylane Defyne

Restylane Defyne is designed to act like your own body’s hyaluronic acid to help smooth out deeper lines around your mouth (nasolabial folds and marionette lines i.e. wrinkles at the corners of your mouth).

It achieves this through XpresHAn Technology, which is a unique manufacturing process that allows the product to integrate into your tissue and naturally move with your facial expressions. This helps facial expressions appear natural.

5. Restylane Refyne

Restylane Refyne integrates with your skin to help smooth out the lines that run alongside the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds and marionette lines). It also utilizes XpresHAn Technology.

Restylane Kysse is used to plump and volumize lips. It is the first lip filler with XpresHAn Technology to make lips appear natural.

7. Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft can be used to add lift and volume to the cheeks as well as help reverse the signs of volume loss in the back of the hands. It is the first and only FDA-approved filler to treat both the face and the hands.

8. Juvéderm Ultra and Ultra Plus

Juvéderm Ultra and Ultra Plus are FDA-approved to improve the appearance of moderate facial wrinkles and folds. They can fill lines for 9-12 months.

9. Volbella (Juvéderm)

Volbella adds volume to your lips and reduces vertical lip lines. It is the most recent addition to the Juvéderm collection. Volbella adds subtle volume to the lips and can last for up to 18 months.
