Your Guide to Everything HydraFacial | Dallas Skincare Experts

Just like our bodies, our skin is mostly made up of water—so hydrated skin is happy skin. It’s practically the golden rule of skincare, right after wearing daily sun protection!

When our patients come to us looking for solutions to their acne and dry skin, there’s one treatment we consistently recommend: the HydraFacial. Dallas-based, Southlake Plastic Surgery is committed to helping our patients beat the dry Texas heat with state-of-the-art skincare that leaves you glowing.

First, the basics: what is a HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is a patented, three-step, medical-grade facial that rejuvenates your skin from the inside out. Seems simple enough, right? But wait there’s more!

Real quick: what’s a medical-grade facial?

Unlike a relaxing facial at a day spa, a medical-grade facial provides deep, targeted treatment for skin concerns. Using more potent, active ingredients, medical facials provide longer-lasting rejuvenation and can actually treat skin concerns.

How does HydraFacial work?

As we said, HydraFacial has three steps to help your skin refresh and recharge using hydra-dermabrasion (basically a fancy way of saying “using water to exfoliate the skin and clear pores”). It’s suitable for all skin types, treats multiple issues, and the whole treatment takes less than your lunch break.

Step 1: Cleanse and peel

The first part of every HydraFacial is a deep but gentle cleanse that breaks down dead skin cells and preps your skin for the next steps. The exfoliating serum uses a combination of glycolic and salicylic acid to remove dead skin cells and other build-up.

Step 2: Extract and Hydrate

The second step involves using the handheld device to essentially vacuum up surface-level build-up and clear out your pores. At the same time, your skin is being treated with a hydrating serum.

Step 3: Nourish and Protect

The cherry on top of the HydraFacial experience is the last step in the process. The finale infuses your skin with the antioxidant and peptide serums, as well as any brightening or clarifying boosters you may have picked out with your aesthetician beforehand.

What does a HydraFacial treat?

A HydraFacial is a fully customizable treatment. Are you looking for help with acne, dark spots, or wrinkles? You name it, and a HydraFacial can be of service. We can treat any area of the body with it, too!

We use our HydraFacial in Dallas to tackle:

  • Dehydrated skin
  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Excessively oily or congested skin
  • Acne & blackheads
  • Enlarged pores
  • Loss of elasticity or firmness
  • Uneven skin tone or texture
  • And more!

Perhaps the best benefit of a HydraFacial is its immediate results. There’s no wait! You will walk out of the office fresh and ready to face the rest of your day.

Of course, depending on the severity of your skin needs, or your desired results, you might not see photoshop-level looks right away. But with regular treatments, you’ll be feeling like a model in no time!

Is HydraFacial different from microdermabrasion?

Both HydraFacials and microdermabrasion are minimally invasive and used to exfoliate the skin. Where they differ is in technique.

Microdermabrasion is an earlier technology that involves exfoliating the skin with an abrasive instrument. This can cause some redness and swelling after treatment, which isn’t ideal for some patients.

Some patients with sensitive skin prefer HydraFacial, which is safe for all skin types and has fewer side effects.

How long do HydraFacial results last?

Results from your HydraFacial treatment will be noticeable for up to a week.

Scheduling regular HydraFacials is a great addition to your regular skincare regimen because the results just keep getting better. Most patients schedule them once a month, and additional treatments as needed before a special occasion or during times of more intense breakouts or dryness!

The secreting to extending your benefits from HydraFacial in Dallas

Medical-grade skincare products are clinically proven to increase your skin’s health and vitality. They also are a great way to extend your HydraFacial benefits, as well as sustain the results of other skincare treatments.

In general, wearing sunscreen is the number one thing you can do to protect your skin. You should be wearing a broad spectrum SPF 30 every day. It protects your skin from the sun’s damaging rays, which can prevent premature aging and sunspots.

In between your appointments, you can also recreate some of the benefits of a HydraFacial at home by imitating the steps! Our expert aestheticians are always happy to recommend which products would be right for you.

Step 1: Cleanser

It’s important to find a cleanser that works for your skin type. If you have drier skin you want to avoid cleansers with alcohol, as that can increase dryness. If your skin is more oily, look for a cleanser that’s oil free.

There are also cleansers designed to help with certain skin issues. For example, if you struggle with acne, you can utilize a cleanser that treats acne.

Step 2: Exfoliating Mask

Exfoliating your face regularly supports your skin’s natural process. Your skin is shedding cells every day, exfoliating helps remove them quicker. Using an exfoliating mask at least once a week keeps your skin clear and vibrant.

Step 3: Moisturize

Every time you cleanse your face, even if you don’t fully exfoliate, you should follow it up with a moisturizer. Generally, you should be moisturizing your face twice daily, but it’s especially important to do so after cleansing and exfoliating to help protect your skin.

Quiz: Personalize Your Skincare with Southlake

HydraFacial can fit right into your regular aesthetic routine

Getting a regular (once a month) HydraFacial can boost and protect your skin’s overall health. Plus, there are several treatments that pair well with a HydraFacial!

When paired with other treatments, HydraFacials can help enhance results through detoxifying, reducing inflammation, and even improving healing time.

If you’re considering other aesthetic treatment options, your Southlake provider can discuss them in your consultation. We can perform some treatments on the same day, but not all of them. So it’s important to plan your schedule accordingly!

Injectables

Scheduling your HydraFacial before coming in for your Botox or dermal filler injections is a great way to prepare your skin. The treatments work together to help reduce wrinkles and give your face an overall younger look.

Plus, getting HydraFacials between your Botox maintenance treatments can help extend your results as part of a balanced skincare routine. When your skin is healthier, your injectables work better.

For scheduling purposes, you should get your injections at least a few days before your HydraFacial. Alternatively, you can have your injections administered after your HydraFacial.

Dermaplaning

As another quick, non-invasive treatment, dermaplaning is also a great match for your HydraFacial. Particularly because it can make your HydraFacial more effective. Dermaplaning gently removes dead skin cells, peach fuzz, and other build-up on your skin.

Your HydraFacial is able to penetrate even deeper into exfoliated skin, giving you a more revitalizing facial experience!

Microneedling with PRP

Once your skin is cleansed and exfoliated during your HydraFacial, it’s even more receptive to the effects of the microneedling treatments.

Microneedling comfortably creates thousands of micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound-healing process. This boosts the production of collagen and elastin, the two proteins predominantly responsible for the structure of the skin.

Plus, PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a completely safe add-on to your treatment that will enhance and optimize your results, too!

Laser rejuvenation

It’s perfectly safe to get HydraFacials between your regular laser treatments, but it’s important to make sure your skin has enough time to heal after your laser session first. Your provider can discuss the best time to schedule your facials if you’re in the middle of a series of laser treatments.

Your skin is incredibly sensitive after receiving laser resurfacing, so you should wait at least two weeks after a laser treatment before coming in for a HydraFacial to minimize the chance of skin irritation.

We particularly love pairing HydraFacial with Moxi during the summertime. The Moxi laser is gentle enough that you can get it during the summer, and you can get your HydraFacial within a week to speed healing!
