You’re not as young as you used to be. With every birthday that comes along, you’re reminded of this fact. And when you’re looking through old photos—or even looking in the mirror—it becomes obvious. You’ve changed!
Inside, you’re still the same old you, but on the outside, you’ve noticed wrinkles, droopy skin, and many other telltale signs of aging. It’s not a great feeling. Everyone’s heard of the classic aesthetic treatments, but can they actually offer prominent, long-lasting results?
At Southlake Plastic Surgery, we have treatments that offer noticeable effects.
With a facelift in Dallas, you can see refreshed, healthier-looking skin, and you won’t have to be self-conscious about the way you look.
Many people are skeptical about the efficacy of a facelift in Dallas. We totally understand, but we’re extremely proud of the effects of our facelift procedures. We’re so proud, in fact, that we’d like to go over the entire process with you, beginning to end.
When our patients understand the process, they can feel confident that they’ll see apparent results. And we don’t just offer facelifts for skin rejuvenation in Dallas. We have a multitude of exciting skin care procedures that will allow you to reclaim your confidence.
A Clinic That Cares
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been with us before or if this is your first time hearing about us; we’re so excited to help you reach your aesthetic goals. It’s normal to feel insecure every now and then.
In fact, according to a 2023 poll, most Americans feel insecure 5 times a day! We want to help curb that insecurity in any way you can. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, and that’s why we started this clinic in the first place.
Southlake is operated by people who understand how enhancing your external features can help you feel more confident in everyday life.
A Team of Professionals
At Southlake, we’re picky about our team members. We don’t just hire anyone; our team must consist of aesthetics professionals who care about our mission. Our team members are trained to understand not just the aesthetics side of the business, but the personal side as well.
Cosmetic care can be a sensitive issue. Our patients come to see us so we can treat or pretreat aesthetics conditions. We strive to be understanding and considerate through every step of the process.
Making Transparency a Priority
Another important tenet of our mission at Southlake is transparency. We don’t want to hide behind big words and vague terminology. If you come to us with a question about what we do, we’ll be sure to answer it as best we can. That’s why we started our blog in the first place—it allowed us to tell you more about our process.
We’re also clear about our pricing. When you come in for a consultation, we can give you a specific cost breakdown. But in the meantime, we’ll give you an estimate based on which treatment you’re looking for.
If you need help making payments, we have financing options as well.
The Consultation Process
Before we get started on your facelift in Dallas, we have to complete the consultation process. You may be wondering why a consultation is necessary, especially if you already have a treatment in mind. Isn’t a consultation designed to help you figure out what kind of treatment you need?
Well, the answer is a little bit more complicated than that.
At our clinic, we don’t just perform treatments because a patient wants them. Often, a patient will do their own research and become convinced that a specific treatment is right for them. We love when a patient comes prepared, but we don’t want you to waste time and money on a procedure that won’t treat your condition.
We do our best to avoid prescribing ineffective treatments by asking lots of questions. When you meet with us for a consultation, we’ll ask you questions about your treatment goals: what kind of results are you hoping to see, and what kind of procedure are you looking for?
Once those questions are answered, we’ll complete a physical exam to look over your skin, face, and body for ourselves. This will give us the necessary information to prescribe the right treatment plan for you.
See Results With a Facelift in Dallas!
Now that you’re a little more acquainted with our process, we can discuss your surgical and non-surgical options for a facelift in Dallas. Facelifts work to treat many skin conditions that appear as a result of aging. Aging is an inevitable fact of life, but the visual effects of aging don’t have to be. If you get a facelift with our team, you can treat symptoms like:
- Loose and sagging skin
- Loss of volume
- Deep wrinkles and skin folds
- Excess skin under chin/“turkey neck”
After these symptoms have been treated, you may appear younger and more refreshed.
Common Misconceptions
Facelifts are an exceedingly common surgery. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgery, in a single year, there were almost a quarter of a million facelifts performed in the United States alone. So if you’re considering a facelift in Dallas for yourself, you’re not alone.
Plenty of people all over the world see the value in this cosmetic procedure. But because this procedure is so common, there is a lot of misinformation surrounding the treatment. We want to clear up these misconceptions so you can receive a facelift without any apprehensions.
Will a facelift in Dallas hurt?
This is probably one of the more common misconceptions surrounding facelifts. Lots of people assume that any aesthetic surgery will result in long-lasting pain. But in actuality, many of our patients find this procedure to be surprisingly short of any painful side effects.
You may feel some discomfort immediately following the procedure; the face is generally somewhat tight, swollen, or bruised.
But you will find that there is actually minimal pain. Patients report that the drains are the most uncomfortable part of the procedure if those have been placed. The most uncomfortable part of the procedure is the swelling and bruising rather than pain.
In fact, we’ve never had a patient complain about pain following a facelift in Dallas.
Will a facelift make me look artificial?
Another common concern many of our patients have when scheduling a facelift in Dallas is that it will make them look artificial. No one wants to look overly stiff or unnatural. But you don’t have to sacrifice facial mobility for tighter, younger-looking skin. We find that a facelift’s results are subtle but noticeable.
Many of our patients have reported that their friends and family noted a positive change in their appearance, but they’re unable to guess the nature of that change. People around you may comment that you look skinnier or particularly well-rested, but they likely won’t guess that you’ve had a surgery at all!
Preparing for Your Facelift
There is one thing you can do to make the facelift process easier for yourself: take care of your skin! Now, it’s true that you might be getting a facelift because you haven’t taken care of your skin as much as you’d have liked. But recovery after a facelift is much easier when your skin is healthy, and it’s never too late to make a change!
When you sit down with our team for your consultation, ask what skincare products they recommend. We have lots of different options available to treat damaged, unhealthy skin. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and it pays to take care of it to prevent infections and enhance recovery after any surgery.
So if we decide that a facelift in Dallas is your best choice for skin repair, supplement that facelift with a new and improved skincare regimen.
Southlake Plastic Surgery offers a line of medical-grade skincare that is specially formulated for different skin types and needs. LINK to blog on Best medical-grade skincare.
The Facelift Process
Now, we can go over the actual facelift procedure itself. First, we’ll provide you with general anesthesia, meaning that you will be unconscious during the surgery. From there, we will make incisions in the skin and lift it gently away from the face.
We will expose the underlying tissue and muscle layers, making adjustments to tighten your face’s appearance. We will then also stretch and eliminate excess skin, so that your skin will no longer look loose and droopy. From there, we will stitch up the skin and apply bandages. If we use non-absorbable sutures, we will remove them within a few days.
If you’re interested in learning more about the specifics of the actual treatment, then take a look at the animations on our treatment page. They go over the differences between our facelifts, and they’ll provide an X-ray view of the entire treatment, beginning to end.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage is an important part of the surgical process. With the help of our HydraFacial machine, Syndeo, we can reduce the excess liquid in your face that may occur during surgery. This part of the process is totally complimentary. Many patients describe this part of the process as relaxing and soothing.
The lymphatic drainage process feels most similar to a massage, and it helps reduce swelling and helps speed up the recovery process..
How long will a facelift in Dallas take to complete?
A facelift in Dallas is an in-depth surgery, so we certainly don’t want to rush things. From beginning to end, the surgery may take around 4 hours in total. This is not an exact number, as every person’s facial structure and treatment needs are different, but it is important to note that this is not a simple treatment that can be completed in an hour.
What does recovery look like?
Your body will likely need ample recovery time following completion of a facelift in Dallas. We recommend that anyone who schedules a facelift with us take at least 2 weeks off of work, especially if their job requires any physical activity.
You should refrain from any strenuous physical activities—like lifting anything over 10 pounds—for up to 6 weeks after the procedure. This is because we don’t want any sweat to contaminate the treatment area. Sweat leads to bacteria, and we don’t want the bacteria to reach your face before the sensitive treatment area can heal.
You should also be sure not to touch your face after a facelift in Dallas. This may seem like an easy rule to follow, but you may be surprised. We touch our faces much more often than you would think. According to Indiana University, the average human touches their face 23 times every hour!
You will notice some redness, swelling, and fluid discharge in the face, but this is to be expected, and it’s considered completely normal.
These symptoms will likely lessen within 5 weeks. You will notice the positive benefits of a facelift in Dallas for a long time. The Mayo Clinic estimates that you can see facelift results for up to ten years after the initial treatment.
Complementary Treatments
The facelift is far from our only option for facial rejuvenation in Dallas, and some of our other treatments actually work to boost your facelift results. But if you’re feeling excited about the prospect of facial rejuvenation, let us know during your consultation, because we can schedule multiple surgeries for the same day.
That way, we can complete them all at once. You won’t have to worry about making multiple appointments to receive all of your desired surgeries. We want to make the Southlake process as convenient as possible. If you’re looking to transform the way you look for the better, we may also recommend an brow lift.
Brow Lift
The brow lift is a perfect complementary treatment to the facelift. Like the facelift, the brow lift is designed to help you look younger and fresher.
This treatment brings the eyebrows upward, but at the same time, it also reduces wrinkles in the forehead and smooths out skin.
This treatment can reduce the wrinkles that form as a result of repeated muscle movements. Over the course of many years, these repeated muscles form recognizable creases and fine lines that lend to a more aged appearance. Whether you’re looking to treat wrinkles or sagging skin, the brow lift could be a perfect treatment for you.
Though perhaps not as common as facelifts, brow lifts are still exceedingly common in the United States. Over 80,000 people receive them every single year. And as with the facelift, there is minimal pain associated with the procedure. You may see swelling after the treatment, but that should only last 1-2 weeks.
The brow lift process may add a couple hours to your facelift treatment, but you’re still saving time in the long run.
Rather than going through the hassle of scheduling an entirely different treatment and taking time out of your schedule to return to our clinic, you can complete both treatments in the same session. You’ll see the same results in less time.
Eyelid Lift
Another treatment you can pair with your facelift is an eyelid lift, in a process called a blepharoplasty. A blepharoplasty is designed to help you look younger. There are two kinds of blepharoplasties: an upper blepharoplasty and a lower blepharoplasty.
An upper blepharoplasty is a straightforward procedure that addresses the upper eyelids. The procedure removes any excess skin from the area. This will help your eyes look less tired and more energized.
The lower blepharoplasty is a tad more complicated. This process targets droopy eye bags that lend to a drowsy, exhausted appearance. During this procedure, we may remove fat deposits from beneath the eye to erase puffiness.
Depending on the procedure you choose, you may see swelling and bruising for over 2 weeks. You can minimize this with a cold compress, and you should be able to resume daily activities as normal after 3 weeks.
Other Facelift Options
We highly recommend a facelift in Dallas. In just a few hours, you can see results that can last for up to a decade. But we also understand that not everyone can take a couple weeks off of work to recover from this procedure.
Others may not feel comfortable with the idea of a surgical treatment. We get it! At Southlake, we feel that it’s always important to offer our patients several options. No two people are quite alike, and as a result, people have different aesthetic preferences.
With that in mind, let’s go over the different non-surgical treatments that we offer to refresh and rejuvenate your look.
Dermal Fillers
The first of our many non-surgical facelift methods are our dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment designed to restore lost volume to your body. When we lose volume, our skin tends to sag, which may cause you to look old or tired.
Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid, and though that may evoke some uncomfortable imagery, this isn’t the kind of acid that you use to dissolve metal in a science lab. Your body naturally produces hyaluronic acid. We want to use the kinds of materials that can be found in your body to treat your body.
Where can I use a dermal filler?
Though we recommend dermal fillers as a non-surgical alternative for a facelift in Dallas, you can actually use dermal fillers anywhere. Common places to use dermal fillers are in the cheeks and nasolabial folds (the crease between the nose and the corner off your mouth-also known as marionette lines).
Across the body, the natural aging process is perhaps most apparent in the hands. The skin becomes slack, and wrinkles show prominently. You may be surprised to learn that dermal fillers can actually be used to deage the appearance of your hands.
With the help of simple injections, many of our patients report that their hands look younger than they have in a long while.
We can also use dermal fillers on thin lips. If you’re looking for a more fashionable pout to your lips, a dermal filler can provide that much-needed volume.
There are many different types of dermal fillers with different densities and consistencies to treat different areas of your body. Your experienced injector will be able to plan the best treatment options for you.
What is the dermal filler procedure like?
The dermal filler procedure is incredibly straightforward. In fact, our team can complete the process in about an hour. And while the injections won’t cause much discomfort, we do offer Pro-Nox to help our patients feel relaxed.
Pro-Nox is an inhalant anesthetic that you administer yourself. Simply breathe through the applicator and feel your anxieties melt away. Many people compare the feeling of Pro-Nox to drinking a couple glasses of wine. And once the procedure is complete, simply stop breathing with the applicator. You’ll feel completely level-headed once again in just moments.
How long is the recovery period following a dermal filler session?
You’ll be glad to hear that there is no physical downtime following a dermal filler session in Dallas. However, you may experience bruising and/or swelling in the area of the injections for up to a week. It helps to quit taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or other drugs including herbal supplements that might increase bleeding.
Once we’re finished with injections, we’ll take the time to ask you a few more questions about how you’re feeling. We’ll also give you advice on how you can best maintain your results after you leave our clinic. You can enjoy the results of your dermal fillers for a while, from 6 months to a year!
More Facelift Alternatives
Maybe a dermal filler isn’t quite what you’re looking for. Some of our patients can’t stand needles, so the idea of an injectable is a little unsavory. At Southlake, we pride ourselves on our adaptability, so we want to help find a treatment for all of our customers, regardless of their preferences. But is there really a non-surgical, non-filler-based choice for a facelift in Dallas?
Our Laser Treatment Options
We offer several different choices for laser treatments in Dallas. Laser treatments are a valuable, non-invasive method for resurfacing skin. These procedures are a great choice for those looking to enhance their look. Laser treatments can help smooth and retexture skin.
Over time, the Earth’s natural elements can cause visible damage and discoloration. These effects may become more and more prominent over time, so it’s a good idea to schedule a treatment as soon as you notice these symptoms.
More Than an Alternative
Our laser skin treatments are a great choice for anyone who’s not quite ready for a facelift in Dallas. But if you do want a facelift, a laser treatment can actually help boost your results.
Our founder—Dr. Mark E. Mason—always says that a facelift is like getting a new mattress, and you don’t want a new mattress with the same old stained, wrinkled bedspread or comforter! But with a laser treatment, your skin will shine like new.
You’ll have the same facial structure, but with none of the damage that comes with the years of a life well-lived. Think of a laser treatment and facelift in Dallas as sort of a reset. You’re starting from scratch!
So let’s go over the different characteristics of our laser treatments, so you can get an idea of which procedure will benefit you and your skin.
BBL Photofacial
First, let’s get this out of the way—the BBL Photofacial isn’t technically a laser treatment. But we list it with all of the other laser treatments because it works in a similar way. But instead of using lasers, the BBL Photofacial uses light. The secret is in the name: BBL stands for broadband light. And this light is the key to its skin resurfacing power.
With the help of a specialized wavelength of pulsing light, BBL actually heats up the skin. This induces the production of collagen, which is an important protein responsible for many vital functions across the body, including the production of healthy skin tissue.
The BBL is designed to target conditions such as:
- Redness
- Rosacea
- Acne
- Skin laxity
- Sun damage
- Hyperpigmentation
- Age spots
- Fine lines
We won’t take up too much of your time with the BBL Photofacial. The procedure only lasts about 45 minutes depending on the areas treated, so you can refresh your skin during your lunch break. And you won’t need to take the rest of the day off work, because the treatment doesn’t necessitate any downtime.
You may notice your skin takes on a slightly pink tone, but this won’t last long. You also likely won’t feel any significant pain during this treatment, but if you’re worried, we can provide a topical numbing agent to soothe your skin!
Moxi Laser Treatment
Another complementary treatment for a facelift in Dallas is the Moxi laser treatment. The Moxi is a non-ablative skin treatment, which means that although the laser directly resurfaces the skin, it doesn’t cause any damage to the surface. It does, however, signal your body to begin producing brand new skin cells. This gives your skin a younger, fresher appearance.
Some skin treatments only work on certain skin tones, but the Moxi is effective for all skin tones and textures, no matter the time of year. The Moxi laser treatment itself may take as little as 30 minutes to complete, and in that time, it can treat conditions such as:
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Acne
- Scarring
- Wrinkles
- Fine lines
- Melasma
- Loose skin
- Uneven tone
- Poor texture
There are a few considerations you should make following your Moxi laser treatment. We recommend that you stay out of the sun for at least 2 hours. But if you can, try to avoid direct sunlight for 8 hours.
Of course, not everyone can avoid the sun for that long, so wear sunscreen. You also shouldn’t apply makeup for 24 hours following your treatment. As with the BBL Photofacial, your skin will likely appear a little pink. Some people report swelling up to a few days depending on the level of treatment.
ProFractional Laser
The ProFractional laser is an excellent complementary treatment for a facelift in Dallas. The ProFractional laser works by creating small channels in the skin. These channels work to stimulate collagen production, which results in healthy, youthful skin.
The ProFractional laser is a little more in-depth than the Moxi laser treatment and the BBL Photofacial, so it does necessitate a longer treatment time. This is because we need to apply a numbing cream to the treatment area. This process takes about an hour.
From there, though, the treatment only takes an hour. The ProFractional laser is very effective at treating multiple skin conditions, like:
- Loose skin
- Scarring
- Sun damage
- Depleted collagen
- Aged skin
- Poor texture
- Acne scars
Following the treatment, you will notice some minor side effects, like redness and peeling of the skin. This isn’t permanent, but it can last 5-7 days or more.
One of the major benefits of the ProFractional laser treatment is its precision. It only treats a specific, predetermined area of the skin, leaving the other healthier areas of the skin unaffected.
This treatment does require a bit of recovery time, ranging from 7 to 14 days. But if you don’t have a full week to spare, then let us know. If you’re looking for more pronounced results, you can also combine this treatment with the BBL Photofacial. You can also treat specific smaller areas which result in less downtime.
Contour TRL
The last of our treatments to pair with a facelift in Dallas is the Contour TRL. The Contour TRL is our deepest, most intense laser for resurfacing. Unlike the other laser treatments mentioned above, the Contour TRL requires patients to be put under for the procedure.
This treatment aggressively resurfaces skin, so a topical numbing agent won’t suffice. We don’t want anyone to be uncomfortable during the treatment, so it is usually done under general anesthesia along with a facelift or other surgical facial procedure.
The Contour TRL is effective thanks to its adaptability. Like the ProFractional laser, the Contour TRL allows us to customize the depth of the laser’s ablation and thermal coagulation. This means that we can treat many different areas of the skin.
