Everyone has heard of Botox; it’s like the Kleenex of neuromodulators. But Dysport has made an impressive entrance into the aesthetics industry.
How are they different? And more importantly, which one is better? Keep reading to find out how Southlake Plastic Surgery and Med Spa weighs in on Dysport versus Botox.
What’s the Difference Between Dysport and Botox?
Botox was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for cosmetic use back in 2002. It became popular soon after this. Millions have used and adored Botox for over 20 years now.
Dysport was approved for cosmetic use in 2009. It has similar results as Botox, but has seen less widespread use.
The Botox Cosmetic brand was the first on the scene and has been more heavily advertised than Dysport. These are the leading reasons for its popularity. As a result, Botox has become the default treatment when a patient comes in for a neuromodulator.
Ultimately, the differences between Dysport and Botox are slight adjustments to the chemical formula.
Which Is Better, Dysport or Botox?
Southlake Plastic Surgery and Med Spa offers both Dysport and Botox because we see great results from both. It is a personal choice as to which you prefer. There is no obvious winner in the debate between Dysport versus Botox.
However, of our patients who have tried both, some of them seem to prefer Dysport, especially if they have been using Botox for a while. We can always try both with our patients while keeping all variables the same. For example, we’ll use the same injector and dose, and then you can choose which results you like better.
If you’ve been using Botox and are noticing that your results aren’t as impressive or don’t last as long, it may be a good time to switch to Dysport. Some studies show Dysport is superior to Botox.
