What to Expect During Surgery
Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia at Southlake Plastic Surgery’s on-site surgical suite, Southlake Center for Cosmetic Surgery. Our center is certified by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities.
The procedure takes 1 to 2 hours on average. Your surgeon will make an incision (commonly under the breast fold or around the areola), place the implant either above or below the chest muscle, and close the incision with sutures.
Breast Augmentation Recovery
Most patients return home the same day and resume some light activity within a few days. Discomfort is expected, but many women only need to take pain medications for the first 2-3 days.
It typically takes:
- 7-10 days to return to daily activities
- 6 weeks for full healing
- 6 months for full results
