About Liposuction
Permanent Improved Contour
Liposuction in Southlake is a surgical procedure that removes deposits of fat in specific areas of the body that are resistant to weight loss and exercise. Very short incisions (usually less than a quarter of an inch long) are placed in inconspicuous locations near the problematic fat deposits. A fluid called tumescent solution is placed into each area to minimize bleeding and reduce postoperative pain. The fat cells are then removed using small suction tubes called cannulas.
Liposuction in Southlake should not be thought of as a weight loss procedure, but rather a contouring procedure for areas that are resistant to weight loss and exercise. The ideal candidate for liposuction is a healthy male or female who is close to their desired weight. It is extremely important to keep up good nutrition and an exercise program before, during, and after liposuction to ensure that optimum results are achieved and maintained.

Southlake’s Process
There are many types of liposuction and Dr. Mason has performed almost all of them. After years of experience, Dr. Mason prefers to use the SAFE Lipo technique developed by his colleague and friend, Dr. Simeon Wall, Jr. This technique sculpts the treatment areas by removing fat while equalizing the thin layer of fat just below the skin. This improves the chances of having a smooth even contour of the skin’s surface after healing.
Dr. Mason also uses VASER liposuction in Southlake, a technique that involves treating fat cells with ultrasonic waves before they are removed by suction. This technique is best for certain areas of the body where the fat is very dense and difficult to remove.
Liposuction is most commonly used for contouring the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, neck, or chin.
What results can I expect?
The final results of liposuction in Southlake are not immediate, although some improvement is noted immediately and in the first few weeks after surgery. Because the overlying skin has to shrink and smooth over the body’s new shape following fat removal, final results can be expected 6 to 9 months after the procedure.
- A permanent improvement in the contour and proportion of the treated area
- A more flattering figure or physique, in or out of clothing
Recovery Time?
You will have minor bruising, swelling, and uneven skin contour after surgery. A compression garment will be worn 24/7 for 2 weeks and then 12 hours on/off for 2 more weeks.
- By 8 to10 days the bruising should be almost gone, swelling can last 6 to 8 weeks.
- At 9 months, Dr. Mason considers you fully healed and after photos will be taken.
- 2 to 3 weeks – resume full activities
