About Breast Lift
Breast Tightening & Shaping
If you’re facing sagging or deflated breasts due to aging, pregnancy, or weight loss, you’re not alone. These changes are natural, but they don’t have to be permanent.
A breast lift, or mastopexy, restores a more youthful, elevated contour without increasing breast size. At Southlake Plastic Surgery, our board-certified surgeons utilize advanced techniques to help you feel confident and comfortable in your skin.
Located in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, Southlake Plastic Surgery is led by Dr. Mark E. Mason and Dr. Matthew Novak. With decades of combined experience and a commitment to surgical excellence, our team provides customized care in a modern, supportive environment.
What Is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift raises and reshapes drooping breasts by removing surplus skin and tightening surrounding tissue. It can also involve repositioning the nipples and reducing the size of enlarged areolas. Unlike breast augmentation, a lift does not add volume but focuses on creating a perkier silhouette.
Benefits of a Breast Lift

Women undergo a breast lift procedure for a variety of reasons, including:
- Restoring a youthful breast position after pregnancy or nursing
- Correcting drooping due to aging or weight fluctuations
- Improving breast shape and firmness
- Balancing asymmetrical breasts
- Enhancing body proportions and fit in clothing
How the Procedure Works
Breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes 2 to 3 hours. The surgical approach depends on your anatomy and goals, but common techniques include:
- Crescent lift:Â A minor lift using a small incision above the areola.
- Peri-areolar (donut) lift:Â Involves an incision around the areola for a moderate lift.
- Vertical (lollipop) lift:Â An incision is made around the areola and vertically down toward the breast crease.
- Anchor lift:Â An incision is made around the areola, down the breast, and along the crease for more extensive reshaping.
Recovery and Results

Most patients return home the same day as their procedure. You’ll be provided with a surgical bra and recovery instructions tailored to your needs.
Some swelling, bruising, and soreness are normal during the first week. Many women return to light activities within a week and resume exercise in about 4 to 6 weeks.
You will see results almost immediately, and they will continue to improve over time as swelling subsides. It takes about six months to see the full outcome of the surgery.
Are You a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?
You may be a candidate for a breast lift if you:
- Have sagging or elongated breasts
- Notice your nipples point downward or fall below the breast crease
- Are at a healthy, stable weight
- Do not plan on becoming pregnant in the near future
- Want to improve shape and position without adding volume
A personal consultation at Southlake Plastic Surgery is the best way to determine the right approach for your individual body and goals.
