We all deserve to look and feel confident in our own skin. However, in an era inundated with skincare product options, endless online reviews, and an overwhelming amount of information, adding laser facials and treatments to your skincare routine may seem daunting.

There’s no doubt that learning about new ways to care for your skin (and the endless technology and treatment options available) is a big task.

But here is the reason you should do it: laser skin treatments can accomplish some of the most significant and refined results that patients are looking for when it comes to solving their skin concerns.

Laser facials and laser treatments are an incredible way to achieve dramatic improvement of your skin while being minimally invasive and more cost-effective than surgical options.

At Southlake Plastic Surgery, we want our patients to feel informed and excited about the possibilities for their skin.

Don’t have time to conduct stressful hours of your own research? We’re giving you a comprehensive overview of laser skin treatments, processes, and benefits.

Keep reading to learn about the best options for laser facials available in Southlake for your skin concerns.

First of all, what is a laser facial

A laser facial is a non-surgical procedure that uses lasers and/or light therapy to target and treat a variety of skin conditions and concerns.

What are the benefits of laser for the skin?

Laser facials and laser treatments can address a variety of concerns for people of all ages and skin types.

Common targets for laser treatment are sun damage, signs of aging, blocked pores, acne scars, and dull skin. Because these treatments are fast and many are painless, there is minimal and sometimes no recovery time involved. They can be a great addition to your self-care routine on a consistent basis that yields maximum results.

What skin laser treatments for the face does Southlake offer?

Southlake Plastic Surgery and Med Spa offers some of the best laser facial technology available in the region, including…

How does each laser facial work?

Forever Young BBL Photofacial – The BroadBand Light Therapy laser works by lightly heating the upper skin layers in order to stimulate new collagen production. This works to give the skin an age-defying even tone and a smoother appearance. It is one of the best laser facials we offer for beginners looking for minor improvements!

Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser – This is the only hybrid fractional laser treatment available in the world. The Halo Laser permeates deep into the collagen layers of the skin while leaving the surface area intact. This makes for dramatic results with less healing time than traditional laser resurfacing treatments.

ProFractional Laser – The ProFractional Laser works to resurface a portion (or fraction) of the skin and leaves the rest untouched. This treatment can be individualized to have more or less depth, depending on a patient’s wishes or amount of downtime available for recovery.

MicroLaserPeel – This laser facial technique uses a vaporizing action that reinvigorates skin tissue by building microspherical channels that prompt new collagen production. This treatment can be customized for deeper areas such as lines around the eyes or mouth.

A Breakdown of Southlake’s Best Laser Facials and Treatments: Benefits, Process, and Recovery Time

Now that you know some basics of each laser treatment and how each one works, let’s talk specifics: benefits, process, and recovery time.

Forever Young BBL™ Photofacial

The BBL Photofacial is all about anti-aging and uses pulsing light therapy to give the skin a revitalized, firmer appearance. It treats sun damage, hyperpigmentation, freckles, age spots, fine lines, redness, rosacea, acne & acne scars, skin laxity, and can also reduce unwanted hair.

The Forever Young BBL™ rejuvenates skin and delays signs of aging; a study at Stanford University found that this process can restore gene expression of mature skin to appear as much younger skin. What does that mean? Essentially, it has been clinically shown that BBL actually reverses the aging process over time!

This procedure is non-invasive and has very minimal pain, but patients can request topical numbing cream if they choose to do so. However, most do not require topical anesthetic, as we use a cooling system during the process to minimize discomfort. The procedure takes 45 minutes and the recovery time is minimal to none. Afterwards, your skin may be a little pink, and some dark spots might come to the outer surface of the skin and eventually flake off.

The end result leaves patients’ skin looking more youthful and refreshed. There will be some immediate results and continual advancement over time with each session. We recommend a package of four treatments of BBL Photofacial for maximum results.

HALO™️ Laser Treatment

This hybrid-fractional resurfacing treatment tackles a number of concerns such as sun damage, wrinkles, discoloration, visible signs of aging, melasma, enlarged pores, and poor texture. In just one session, Halo can help reverse years of damage!

Because the Halo Laser treatment is a combination of ablative and non-ablative wavelengths, it gives great results in 1 to 2 treatments, instead of 5 to 6 treatments from traditional non-hybrid lasers.

You will be numbed on the treatment area with a topical anesthetic for approximately 45 minutes, and then we begin our treatment, which lasts approximately 1 hour. The numbed area will feel hot for about an hour during and after the treatment is complete, and we use a cooling system directly after. We will also provide you with a cooling gel mask to ease any discomfort during your recovery period at home.

The recovery period is 3 to 4 days, and patients may return to work with light makeup. 5 days is the complete healing period after a Halo treatment. Overall, completing 2 treatments over 2 to 3 months will yield greater results.

ProFractional Laser

The Profractional Laser deep resurfacing treatment targets specific areas for sun damage, skin laxity, scars, depleted collagen, signs of aging, poor or uneven texture, and acne scarring. Patients can experience tighter-looking skin with scar reduction and smoother texture, and many notice smoother, clearer skin after one treatment.

After a topical anesthetic numbs the treatment area (approximately 45 minutes), the treatment itself is one hour long. The laser resurfaces a fraction of the skin and leaves the rest untouched. Laser treatment side effects of redness and peeling are to be expected throughout the recovery period. However, you should notice collagen-boosting benefits throughout several months after treatment!

Depending on the depth of your treatment, recovery time varies between 4 to 7 days. Depth of treatment can be customized to fit a patient’s availability for downtime.

MicroLaserPeel™️

The MicroLaserPeel treats superficial resurfacing such as pigment issues, fine wrinkles, keratosis, acne scars, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone. This treatment can also be customized to reach more in-depth concerns in chosen areas, such as lines around the mouth and eyes.

Treatment may require a topical numbing cream for deeper treatments, and procedure time varies between 30 to 45 minutes. If using lighter settings and/or combining with other treatments, the cooling system can be used in place of a topical anesthetic. Depending on the depth of treatment, recovery time is 2 to 7 days.

HydraFacial MD™️

HydraFacial is one of the best beginner treatments in regards to laser facials. The HydraFacial MD boasts long-lasting results that create hydrated, cleansed, and glowing skin. This facial targets deeply blocked pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines, and wrinkles. It can also help decrease brown spots and cleanses oily skin and pores without causing any breakouts.

The procedure cleanses clogged pores and exfoliates the skin by using a gentle suction and delivers essential moisturizing nutrients into the surface area. It can also be customized by adding in different serums for specific skin issues! No topical anesthetic is needed and the session takes 30 minutes to:

  1. Cleanse and peel: exfoliates and resurfaces skin
  2. Extract and hydrate: painless suction removes debris and delivers intense moisture
  3. Fuse and protect: uses peptides and antioxidants to increase overall glow

There is virtually no recovery time after a HydraFacial. You can even apply makeup directly after the session! The Hydrafacial MD is a great treatment to have before a big event or any other time that you want to look and feel extra special.

Great news! It can also be safely performed as often as needed, and optimal results come from regular sessions.

Can you combine multiple laser treatments?

Absolutely! Many of our patients choose to combine laser facials with other treatments for maximum results. For example, the ProFractional laser treatments are many times combined with BBL Photofacial and MicroLaserPeel treatments for even greater benefits. The Hydrafacial is also an excellent treatment to combine with any other laser treatment.

The Best Time of Year to Get a Laser Facial

Like all skincare enthusiasts, we recommend staying out of the sun and wearing your SPF. This is especially important when you are getting any sort of treatment that may make you even more sensitive to the sun’s harmful rays. Because of this, the best time of year to get a laser facial is during the fall and winter months, when even in Texas the sun is less intense and our patients tend to spend more time indoors.

However, if you’re not out in the sun regularly during the warmer months, you are fine to get a laser facial and wear sunscreen and a hat afterward.

Side note: A laser treatment session is also a great holiday gift idea for yourself or a loved one! Give yourself or someone else the gift of extended confidence in their skin 💖

Who is a Good Candidate for Laser Facials?

Adult-age patients and some young adults are good candidates for treatments that target acne scarring, resurfacing, and other skin issues. Generally, those who are 30 years old and up are usually candidates for laser treatments aiming to target sun damage. Patients with mature skin can be great candidates for age-targeting concerns such as skin laxity, age spots, and other signs of aging. Consulting with your dermatologist and using our virtual consultation tool is a great way to help you to discover if you would be a good candidate for any specific laser facials near you (it’s quick and free!).

Those who have medical conditions that affect wound healing, have skin sensitivities, or have recently been in the sun a lot may not be good candidates for a laser facial.

It is a good idea to consult with a dermatologist about any concerns over having a laser treatment. Our skincare experts are also happy to answer any questions you may have!
