5 Liposuction Recovery Tips to Get You Through the Healing Process

Taking proper care of your body is crucial to get you through the liposuction recovery process. Not only will it help your body heal, it will also ensure you gain the best body-sculpting results possible.

While our doctors at Southlake Plastic Surgery will give you more in-depth instructions, here are five liposuction recovery tips to help you prepare.

1. Rest, rest, rest

We know it’s so easy to go, go, go all the time, but after your surgery, you’re going to have to pause for a moment. While you’re resting, make sure you keep on your compression garment at all times. One of the biggest tips we like to share with our patients is to take your time. Even if you feel a lot better, you still want to go slow. Don’t rush through the process, and give your body time to repair itself after surgery.

2. Clean your incisions regularly

Cleaning your incisions is super important to remove dirt and bacteria. Wounds are susceptible to infections, which could deter your results. To avoid this, make sure you change your bandages and keep the area dry.

3. Practice good eating habits

When you feed your body with nutrient-dense foods (and lots of water), it can do its job properly. Plus, healthy eating can help you maintain your results. In the long run, you don’t want to ruin your toned body with junk food, so it’s important to do what you can to eat as balanced as possible. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with the occasional pizza night or slice of cake. Treat yourself!

4. Try to avoid the gym

While taking daily walks is just fine, you don’t want to perform any strenuous activities after your surgery. That may mean you have to take a few weeks away from the gym to allow your body to fully recover after liposuction.

5. Listen to your doctor

At the end of the day, your doctor will have the best guidelines for you to follow based on your procedure and your goals. The most important thing you can do is to listen to your doctor. Don’t just do what feels best or what your friend did after surgery, because that could lead to more harm than good. Your doctor knows what’s best, so please, please, please stick with what he or she has told you.
